Why I Should Be Doing Better Things

Of all the blogs I've been suddenly sucked into (The Tosh.0 blog, the sassy book review blog, and all these other sites which I have found new respect for now that I know what goes into them), I have realized that I still have to find a purpose for this one...

But, beyond the blog world, there has been a lot of rough stuff going on here, and I have about a million things that I should be doing things to fix (College, homework, family drama, friend drama, personal drama, drama on TV, etc.) And so, here I am, still fairly aimless.

Huzzah.

In news, though, I am somehow still not unhappy about my life. I am very glad for this.

Technical Difficulties

I've discovered that there are a few more problems I need to work out with this blog of mine (namely, if I'm going to have a single image as the background, I need to size it for all browsers, and not just my Firefox with a million toolbars. I can assure you, it looks great there.)

Also, it appears that my widgets don't work in internet explorer, nor do my comments.

I feel like this could be an issue.

So, if you're looking at it and saying to yourself, "I think that that random white space at the bottom is a little off, and those boxes should be a little bit less crooked and off-white," you're right. But you probably can't tell me that, because of the whole comments not working thing. Just know I'm working on it.

My Blog Arch-Foe

So, this CSS thing is working swimmingly (Hello there, translucent text boxes with colors that I can change at will), but I am struggling heavily with my footer box being weirdly stuck in the world's most inconvenient place (at the bottom 1/3 of my page, right behind my text). While I work on fixing that (instead of doing an ArtWORMS project regarding thesaurus entries), I thought I'd give a heads up to the world on what's to come:

-A proper footer
-A snaggable button link back here
-Perhaps a small gallery of my art
-Some semblance of order/purpose in this blog

So, look forward to that. It should be excellent!

The Prologue has Ended.

I have finished with the Groschen Goblins blog, and my adventure with this blog can now focus entirely on my own self-involvement. After some serious (or, really, spur of the moment and abrupt) thinking, I've decided to dedicate this to myself and my various projects, and also seeing if I can get anyone else to have me design their blog for them, since the GG blog was both fun and educational (my first adventure into CSS went fairly well, and I plan on going much further here, now that it isn't someone's business on the line!)

I'm going to continue to rearrange this space as I see fit, and it will hopefully soon be something semi-attractive and/or functional... For now, though, it's going to be a hot mess for a long while.

Between work (although maybe not for long... hello, economy) and school, this will be slow going, but I think it will work out well. Soon I might be able to post some art or something, or at least get myself a better title!

So, yes. Good.

In Progress...

So, I've taken down the Groschen Goblins layout (as it was both weird for me to have it and helpful for the final design to have that code on hand), and now I need to figure out many things.
1) What am I going to do with this blog? (there's no way I'm deleting it...)
2) How artsy can I get with my own layout, based on my very limited knowledge of CSS?
3) Will I have time for any of this?
And, most importantly, WHERE DID THAT ARROW AT THE TOP OF THE G.G. BLOG COME FROM?! (There is a very random "-->" at the top of the page, which has completely thrown off my alignment (the site, not my spine), as well as completely ruining the look of the page).
Dear arrow,
you have now ousted the dreaded Tester as my E-Enemy.
Sincerely,
Maggie

Text box discovery! (A note to self)

So, it turns out that there are like 87 different places for the size of the text box to be adjusted, and simply adjusting the wrapper will not run the font over, but clip it instead.
To have the text run
over like this, instead of carrying on and c
(utting off, you get the picture),
make sure to scroll down and fix the text box size.

The Saga Begins

I've figured out the code editing for the layout I want, and inserted my own background and header... so far, life is excellent. Now, to figure out how to center the header properly, and stop that pesky third column from overlapping the main one.
